surprised

I would have to say that receiving the Teacher of the Year Award for Burleson Independent School District,  Burleson, Texas was a big surprise.  My campus nominated me which was a huge honor, but I never expected it to go any further. However after receiving the campus award I was automatically nominated for the district award.  After filling out mountains of paperwork and writing several essays on various topics related to education, my nomination was forwarded to the admin. building. Nothing came of it which didn't surprise me.  I almost didn't go to the awards dinner but was encouraged by my principle to sit at one of the Frazer tables for a good showing.  I had no expectations.  When it came time in the program to award the Teacher of the Year award they began by reading the first paragraph of one of my essays.  That is when it hit me: I was receiving the award!  To this day I still can't believe it, but am honored to have received the recognition.
